Yes. After the survey we give you a written, fixed quotation, agreed before any work begins, so the number you approve is the number you pay. It is itemised, so you can see what each part of the door and the installation costs. There are no day-rate surprises, because the price is settled before we start.

Most doors are ready to install within four to six weeks of the survey, because each one is made to order to your exact opening rather than taken off a shelf. A fully bespoke or oversized door takes a little longer, typically five to seven weeks from sign-off. We confirm the exact timing in writing at quote stage, so you have the date up front.

A standard front door is usually fitted in a day by our own team. Larger, pivot or double-door installations can take longer, and we tell you what to expect at the survey. One team removes the old door, fits the new one, makes good around the opening and takes the old door away, so the whole job is handled in a single visit wherever possible.

Every door is made to order to our specification by established British makers we have worked with for years, and every one is fitted by our own installation team rather than subcontractors. In most cases the door and frame are fitted together as one rated unit, so the frame is normally replaced with the door. That is because the multi-point locking anchors into the frame, and a security rating only holds when the leaf and frame are tested and installed as a pair. Where an opening allows the existing frame to stay, we tell you at the survey, but we will not compromise the security by keeping a frame that weakens the door.

Usually not. Replacing a front door on a standard house is normally treated as a like-for-like improvement and does not need planning permission. The exceptions are listed buildings and homes in conservation areas, where consent can be required, so we flag that at the survey if it applies to you. When in doubt, your local planning authority is the final word.
