The steel range

Security front doors, without the fortress look.

Your front door is the first impression of your home and its first line of defence. Our bespoke steel security doors combine certified protection with refined architectural design, allowing you to enjoy exceptional security without compromising the beauty of your property.

Every door is built around a galvanised steel frame with an insulated security-rated core, engineered to resist forced entry while delivering strength, thermal performance and everyday reliability. Designed for luxury living, each entrance is made to measure and tailored to enhance the character and architecture of your home.

With bespoke glazing, premium finishes, decorative mouldings and any RAL colour, every entrance is individually crafted to complement your property. These are secure metal doors made for living with, not hiding behind, as luxurious as they are protective.

A steel security door, often referred to as a metal front door, combines a galvanised steel leaf and frame with an insulated security-rated core and high-performance multi-point locking. Every steel security door is professionally surveyed, manufactured to your exact specifications and installed by our own experienced team.

The terms steel front door and metal front door describe the same product, a high-performance entrance door built with a galvanised steel frame for residential properties rather than industrial buildings. When security is the priority, steel remains the preferred choice for its outstanding strength, durability and performance. For homeowners who prefer slimmer sightlines and larger areas of glazing, our aluminium security doors offer an elegant alternative without compromising security.

Whether you describe it as a metal entry door, a steel frame door, a steel front door or a high security front door, the objective is always the same: to create an entrance that delivers certified security, exceptional craftsmanship and timeless architectural design, giving you complete confidence every time you arrive home.

Our twelve standard milling profiles, each cut to order and finished in the full RAL colour range.

Black is the finish we fit most: a deep matt black steel front door (RAL 9005) suits period brickwork, rendered frontages and timber-clad homes in equal measure, which is why most of the doors on this page are black or anthracite. Anthracite grey (RAL 7016) is the closest alternative, darker than grey and lighter than black.

Beyond those two, every steel door is powder-coated to order in any RAL colour, inside and out, and the finish holds its colour against weathering without repainting.

Good to know

Steel doors, asked and answered.

What is a steel security door?

A steel security door is a front door built from a galvanised steel leaf and frame around an insulated core, closing on multi-point locking. It gives you the strength of engineered steel with the appearance of a quality front door, because the security sits in the construction rather than the looks. Every one is made to measure to your opening and finished in your choice of colour.

Why choose a steel security door instead of a standard front door?

A steel security door resists forced entry that a standard timber or composite door cannot, while looking like a normal front door from the street. A standard door relies mostly on its lock; a steel door combines a rated steel leaf, a galvanised frame and multi-point locking that engages top, side and base at once. It is the difference between a door that delays an intruder for seconds and one that holds against a determined attack.

How secure are steel security doors?

Our steel security doors are tested to LPS 1175 at SR3, an independently verified forced-entry standard, so they are built to withstand a determined attack with tools rather than an opportunist push. The steel leaf, the galvanised frame and the multi-point lock work as one unit under pressure. The right security class for your home is confirmed at the free survey.

What security rating should my front door have?

For most homes an SR3 door under LPS 1175 gives a strong, independently tested level of protection. The right rating depends on your property, your area and any insurance requirement, which is why we assess it at the free survey rather than selling you more than you need. We recommend the class that matches your risk and explain why.

Are steel security doors worth the investment?

For a home at this level, a steel security door protects the property, the contents and the people inside with a door that also lifts the frontage. It is made to measure, finished in your colour and built to last for decades with very little upkeep, so the value holds long after a mass-market door would have dated or worn. Many buyers also find it supports their insurance position and their home’s resale appeal.

Can steel security doors look like luxury front doors?

Yes. A steel security door can be finished to look like any premium front door, with traditional mouldings, glazed panels, sidelights and any RAL colour. The strength is engineered into the core and frame, so the outer face is free to be as refined as you like. Most visitors never realise they are looking at a steel door.

Can steel security doors include glass panels?

Yes. Steel security doors can take glazed panels, vision panels and full-height sidelights, all in laminated security glass so the glazing does not become the weak point. The glass can be clear, obscured or decorative, and where higher protection is needed it can be specified to a security glass rating such as P6B. We design the glazing around both the look you want and the security your home needs.

Are steel security doors suitable for period homes?

Yes. Matching a Victorian, Georgian or Edwardian frontage is one of the most common reasons people come to us. We replicate the correct mouldings, proportions and colour, then build them on modern security-rated steel construction, so the door suits the house and still locks like a modern security door.

Do steel security doors rust?

No. The steel is galvanised and then powder-coated, which seals it against moisture and stops the corrosion that unprotected steel would suffer. The finish is durable and colour-stable outdoors, so the door keeps its appearance without repainting. A wipe down now and then is all it asks.

How long do steel security doors last?

A well-made steel security door is built to last for decades. Galvanised steel resists corrosion, the powder-coated finish holds its colour outdoors, and the locking hardware is engineered for years of daily use. With occasional cleaning and the odd lubrication of the locks and hinges, it should outlast several standard doors.

Are steel security doors low maintenance?

Yes. A steel security door needs very little: an occasional wipe of the finish and a periodic lubrication of the locks and hinges to keep everything moving smoothly. There is no repainting, no swelling and no warping, because the powder-coated galvanised steel is stable in all weather. It is one of the lowest-maintenance front doors you can fit.

Can steel security doors be made in any RAL colour?

Yes. Steel security doors are powder-coated to order in any RAL colour, so you can match the door to your home exactly. Black and anthracite grey are the finishes we fit most, but the full range is open to you, and the inside and outside can be different colours if you want. The powder-coated finish is built to hold its colour outdoors for years.

How much does a steel front door cost?

The cost of a steel front door depends on its size, the security rating you choose, the glazing and hardware, and the complexity of the opening, so every door is priced individually after a survey rather than from a fixed list. We give you a written quote, agreed before any work begins, and the price is fixed before we start.

What is the difference between a metal front door and a steel front door?

There is no meaningful difference. A metal front door and a steel front door describe the same product. "Metal front door" is the term buyers often use when searching; "steel front door" is the technical description of what it is made from. The door itself is the same whichever term you used to find it: a galvanised steel leaf and frame, an insulated security-rated core, and multi-point locking.
